World Environment Day was observed by KELSA in association with Kerala High Court Advocate's Association and Lawyers Environmental Awareness Forum (LEAF) by planting and distributing saplings.  The Function was inaugurated by Hon'ble Mr. Justice S.R. Bannurmath, Chief Justice, High Court of Kerala and Patron-in-Chief, KELSA.   The function was presided over by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph, Executive Chairman, KELSA. 

Public Hearing was conducted by Hon'ble Executive Chairman, KELSA on 15th June, 2009 to gather public opinion regarding the functioning of KELSA and for planning measures to improve the functioning of KELSA.  People from different walks of life including high dignitaries like former Judges of High Court attended the function and offered valuable suggestions.

Annual meet of Chairman of DLSAs/TLSCs and Secretaries of DLSAs was held on 21st June at the High Court Auditorium.  Hon'ble Chief Justice Mr. Justice S.R. Bannurmath and Hon'ble Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph, Executive Chairman, KELSA addressed the gathering.  Sri. Jacob Punnuse, Director General of Police also attended the meeting and offered a talk.

A Southern Regional Workshop on Cyber Law:  Issues and Challenges in enforcement  for Judges/Prosecutors/Police officials was organised by KELSA in collaboration with Centre for Development of Imaging Technology(C-DIT) on 27th & 28th June 2009.  The workshop was held at Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram.  The workshop was inaugurated by Sri. V.S. Achuthanandan, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala.  Several dignitaries including Union Minister, State Ministers, Judges of Supreme Court, High Court of Kerala and High Courts of neighboring states were speakers.  in the function.

Anti Ragging Campaign was organised by KELSA in association with all the universities in the state and Government of Kerala.  The meeting was inaugurated by Sri. M.A. Baby, Hon'ble Minister for education and culture, Government of Kerala.  The meeting was presided over by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph, Executive Chairman, KELSA.

Workshop and Public Awareness Programme on Cyber Crimes against women was held at Ernakulam on Ist of August.  The workshop held at High Court of Kerala was inaugurated by Smt. P.K. Sreemathi Teacher, Hon'ble Minister for Health and Social Welfare.  It was followed by an academic session lead by experts in the IT field.  Public Awareness Meeting held in the auditorium of Maharajas College Ernakulam was inaugurated by Hon'be Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Chief Justice of India. Sri. V.S. Achuthanandan, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala offered special speech on the occasion.  Many Judges of the Kerala High Court and Judges of the Subordinate Judiciary attended the function.

A Workshop on Competition Law : Challenges and Answers was held by KELSA in association with Indian Law Institute, ICAI and Kerala Chamber of Commerce & Industry on 8th August at Kochi.  The function was conducted at IMA hall, Kochi.  The workshop was inaugurated by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Tarun Chatterjee, Judge Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, NALSA.  His Lordship was appointed as Executive Chairman, NALSA on the same day.  The function was presided over by Honb'le Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph, Executive Chairman, KELSA.  Mr. Justice S.R. Bannurmath, Chief Justice, High Court of Kerala also spoke on the occasion.

A Public Awareness Programme on Cyber Crime in Campus was jointly organised by KELSA and Kerala State IT Mission at Agricultural University, Vellanikkara, Thrissur on 9th August, 2009 and was inaugurated by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Tarun Chatterjee, Judge Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, NALSA.  Hon'ble Mr. Justice S.R. Bannurmath, Chief Justice of High Court of Kerala and Patron-in-Chief KELSA offered special speech on the occasion.  Hon'ble Education Minister Sri. M.A. Baby also addressed the gathering.  Hon'ble Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph, Judge High Court of Kerala and Executive Chairman KELSA also spoke on the occasion.  Many experts from medical profession led the academic session.

A Meeting on Grama Nyayalaya Act was convened on 16th August at High Court auditorium to  discuss the modalities regarding establishment of Grama Nyayalayas in the state.  The meeting was jointly organised by KELSA and Dept. of Local Self Govt. of Kerala.  The function was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph, Executive Chairman, KELSA. Many of the members of block panchayats and Grama Panchayats expressed their readiness to provide building and other infrastructure to establish Grama Nyayalayas so that people at grass root level could redress their grievances more easily.

Senior Citizens Day :  KELSA and its co-ordinate organisations (DLSAs and TLSCs) in the state observed October 2nd - Gandhi Jayanthi Day as Senior Citizens Day.  A legal awareness camp was conducted in connection with the observation  of Senior Citizens day.  A Legal Aid Clinic was opened at Nochima, Edathala Panchayat under the auspices of KELSA and Rotary Club of Cochin East.  The programme was inaugurated by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph, Executive Chairman of the State Legal Services Authority. 

Meeting of Kudumbasree Officials and N.S.S. Programme Co-ordinators was held on 6th October 2009 at banquet hall High Court of Kerala to discuss  the modalities of the Legal Literacy programme for Kudumbasree members and college students.  The meeting was presided over by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph.  All the Kudumbasree officials and N.S.S. programme co-ordinators offered their sincere co-operation on all earnest efforts on their part in organising legal awareness classes among Kudumbasree members in village areas and among college Students in their respective areas.

Sensitization Programme on PWDV Act :  KELSA in association with Social Welfare Department organised a programme on PWDV Act for protection officers, legal counsellors and representatives of Service Providers on 10th October 2009.  The Sensitization Programme was inaugurated by Hon'ble Mr. Justice S.R. Bannurmath, Chief Justice, High Court of Kerala.  The function was presided over by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph, Executive Chairman

Kerala Piravi Day - November 1st was observed as Protection of Public Property Day by KELSA and its co-ordinate organisations at all district centres and Taluk centres in the state. The state level inauguration of public Property Day was held at Town Hall Trissur. The inaugaration  of the function was  done by Hon'ble Mr. Justice S.R. Bannurmath , Chief Justice of High Court of Kerala. Hon'ble Revenue minister Sri K.P. Rajendran and Hon'ble  former Chief Minister and leader of opposition offered special message on the occasion
