Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KeLSA), in Association with Human Rights Law Net work organized a workshop on Child Trafficking on 05.09.2015 at High Court. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph, judge, Supreme Court of India inaugurated the programme in the meeting preside over by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ashok Bhushan, The Chief Justice, High Court of Kerala and Patron-in-Chief, KeLSA. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Thottathil B.Radhakrishnan, Judge, High Court of Kerala & Executive Chairman, KeLSA delivered the Special Address and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Antony Dominic, Judge, Judge, High Court of Kerala and Chairman, Juvenile Justice Committee delivered the Key Note Address. Sri. Jayachandran C., Member Secretary, KeLSA and Adv. Sandhya Raju, Director, Human Rights Law Network spoke on the occasion. The meeting was followed by an academic session led by Mr. P.M.Nair, Chair Professor, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai & Former Director General of Police, Ms. Sarita Barapanda, Director, Reproductive Rights Initiative, HRLN, New Delhi, Mr. Mahender, Director, Child Rights Initiative, HRLN, Mumbai and Ms. Meena Kuruvila, member, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Thiruvananthapuram.

   
   
   
   
   
   
   

Kerala State Legal Services Authority observed World Day against Child Labour’ on 12th June, 2015. An academic session involving Child Welfare Committee members, Juvenile Justice Board Members, District Child Protection Officers & Members of the Special Juvenile Justice Police Unit of the State was conducted on 12.06.2015 at 2 p.m. which was followed by a valedictory function at 4.40 pm. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Antony Dominic, Judge, High Court of Kerala & Chairman, Juvenile Justice Committee inaugurated the function in the meeting presided over by Sri. John Varghese, President, Kerala High Court Advocates’ Association. Sri. P.Joseph Victor Raj, National Convenor of Campaign against Child Labour delivered the Key Note Address and the Message of the day. Sri. Jayachandran C., Member Secretary, KeLSA, Adv. Sandhya Raju, Director, Human Rights Law Net Work, Sri. M.P.Antoni, the Co-director Childline, Ernakulam and Sri.Biju Varghese, Joint Secretary, KeLSA spoke on the occasion.

   
   
   
   
     
   

Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KeLSA), in Association with Corporation of Cochin, observed ‘World Environment Day’ on 5th June, 2015. A function was organized in this regard at the Town Hall, Ernakulam at 4.40 p.m., which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan, Judge, High Court of Kerala and Executive Chairman of KeLSA. Sri. Tony Chammany, Hon’ble Mayor of Kochi presided over the function and delivered the Presidential Address. Smt. B. Bhadra, Hon’ble Deputy Mayor of Kochi delivered Special Address. Adv. S. Subhash Chand, High Court of Kerala and Sri. M.I.Varghese, Divisional Forest Officer (Rtd.) delivered Environment Day Messages. Saplings were distributed on the occasion.

Sri. Jayachandran C., Member Secretary, KeLSA, Sri. Balakrishnan Koyyal, Chief Officer, Akashwani, Kochi, Sri. John Varghese, President, Kerala High Court Advocates Association, Sri. Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KeLSA), in Association with Kerala Federation of Women Lawyers celebrated International Womens Day on 17.03.2015 at High Court Auditorium, Ernakulam. Hon’ble Mr. Justice P.N.Ravindran, Judge, High Court of Kerala inaugurated the function. Hon’ble Smt. Justice P.V.Asha, Judge, High Court of Kerala delivered the Special Address. Dr. Gita Gopal lead Evaluation Specialist (Retd.) World Bank delivered the Key Note Address. Sri. Jayachandran C., Member Secretary, KeLSA, Adv. Sally Thomas Chacko, President, Kerala Federation of Women Lawyers, Adv. John Varghese, President Kerala High Court Advocates’ Association, Sr. Adv. O.V.Radhakrishnan, President, Senior Advocates’ Association and Adv. N.N.Girija, Secretary, Kerala Federation of Women Lawyers spoke on the occasion. The meeting was followed by cultural programmes lead by Adv. Latha Krishnan, Adv. Neema T.V., Ms. Uttara Ashokan and Ms. Parvathy Menon.

   
   
   
   
       
     
   

Kerala State Legal Services Authority organized State Level Quiz Competition on legal awareness for Higher Secondary School students on 17.01.2015 at Kerala High Court Auditorium. Kum.Haritha T. and Aromal Subi Stephen from L.S.N.G. HSS, Ottappalam has won 1st prize in the competition, Kum.Parvathy S. and Mary Ann from Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School for Girls, Cotton Hill, Trivandrum has won second prize and Mas. Kajal Raju and Kum. Chithira Venugopal from Govt. Higher Secondary School, Hosdurg came in the third position. Hon’ble Mr.Justice Thottathil B.Radhakrishnan, Judge, High Court of Kerala and Executive Chairman, Kerala State Legal Services Authority distributed prizes for winners. Sri. Jayachandran C., Member Secretary (District Judge), Kerala State Legal Services Authority also attended the function. An Ever Rolling Trophy and a Cash prize of Rs.6,000/- (Rupees six thousand only) was given to the 1st prize winner, cash prize of Rs.4,000/- (Rupees four thousand only) was given to the 2nd prize winner and cash prize of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees two thousand only) was given to the 3rd prize winner.
