Legal Literacy classes for Kudumbashree members
KELSA joins hands with Kudumbashree in conducting about 600 Legal Literary classes for poor women as a part of KELSA's programme of empowerment of women through legal literacy.
The Kudumbashree project is aimed at poverty alleviation and is a community based venture for economic empowerment of women, engendering sustainable development in Kerala.
Legal literacy is accepted worldwide as a tool for empowerment of women. Demystifying law through legal literacy classes will not only help women in the households to be aware of their rights but also will help them to guide themselves and their family members to be law abiding citizens. With this objective in mind, KELSA proposes to start legal literacy classes for the members of Kudumbashree units during the month of November 2004. About 600 legal literacy classes have to be conducted, each class catering to about 200-250 persons.
